Job summary

Sub-Zero Group, Inc. is seeking a Senior Cloud Architect to lead cloud platform design and technical strategy in Madison, WI.

You will guide architecture decisions, foster cross-team collaboration, and mentor engineers to build scalable, secure, and cost-efficient solutions. You will evaluate emerging technologies, drive CI/CD and IaC practices, and partner with product and IT teams to deliver end-to-end customer-focused platforms.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve cloud platform architecture, technical standards, and engineering best practices.
• Drive technical strategy and architectural decisions.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend investments that improve business and customer outcomes.
• Serve as a trusted technical advisor for engineering leadership and product stakeholders.
• Design, implement, and optimize distributed systems, APIs, event-driven architectures, and data platforms.
• Lead architecture reviews and ensure solutions align with security, reliability, performance, and cost objectives.
• Drive adoption of cloud infrastructure automation, observability and resiliency.
• Maintain standards for CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, deployment automation, and platform governance.
• Partner with mobile, embedded, QA, UX, and IT teams to deliver end-to-end customer solutions.
• Facilitate alignment between teams and help resolve complex technical and organizational challenges.
• Lead technical planning for large cross-functional initiatives.
• Build consensus around architectural direction while balancing short-term delivery and long-term maintainability.
• Mentor engineers at all levels and help develop future technical leaders.
• Provide guidance on architecture, system design, debugging, and engineering practices.
• Create opportunities for knowledge sharing and technical skill development.
• Foster a culture of technical curiosity, continuous improvement, and accountability.
