Job summary

Hopkinsville Community College is seeking an Advanced Manufacturing Training Specialist within the Workforce Solutions department to assess employer training needs, design accelerated training, and deliver instruction in advanced manufacturing.

Responsibilities include delivering classroom and online instruction on electricity, PLCs, hydraulics, robotics; developing curricula; evaluating students; maintaining records; and ensuring safety and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree and six years related work experience, or equivalent.
  • Industry-specific certifications may be required depending on program/regs.
  • Ability to communicate with diverse populations and handle high-pressure situations.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver classroom, online and laboratory instruction in advanced manufacturing topics (electricity, motor controls, PLCs, hydraulics, blueprint reading, robotics).
  • Prepare lesson plans, syllabi, and instructional materials; keep accurate records (grades, attendance).
  • Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback to support learning and skill development.
  • Design and update curricula and instructional methods to ensure program effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with faculty to provide instructional design support and ADA compliance.

Job Summary

The primary purpose of the Advanced Manufacturing Training Specialist - Workforce Solutions is to work with the Workforce Development Director to assess employer training needs, design customized and accelerated training solutions, and deliver advanced manufacturing training instruction.

Job Duties:
Advanced Manufacturing Instruction and Recordkeeping
  • Deliver classroom, online and laboratory instruction in advanced manufacturing topics, including but not limited to electricity, motor controls, PLCs, hydraulics, blueprint reading, and robotics.
  • Identify and utilize appropriate instructional tools, including software, multimedia visual aids, textbooks, supplies, and equipment.
  • Prepare lesson plans, syllabi, and instructional materials.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback to support learning and skill development.
  • Keep accurate records, including grades, attendance, and training activity documentation.
  • Enforce safety standards and professional expectations, including attendance, teamwork, communication, and workplace behaviors.
  • Maintain a structured and effective learning environment.
  • Continuously evaluate and update curricula and instructional methods to ensure program effectiveness.
Needs-Based Analysis and Training Plan Development
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to assess employer workforce needs, maintain employer partnerships, and develop customized training plans.
  • Design high-quality advanced manufacturing courses designed to meet the specific needs of Workforce customers and provide relevant learning opportunities.
  • Develop curricula, course content, instructional methods, training schedules and measurable student learning objectives.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to provide instructional design support, including best practices, ADA compliance, and quality assurance.
Professional Development
  • Stay current with emerging industry standards, technologies, and workforce trends.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to maintain and enhance instructional and technical expertise.
Other Duties as Assigned
  • Participate in college and community committees and workforce initiatives.
  • Support special programs and events and contribute as an engaged member of the Workforce Solutions team.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree and six years related work experience, or equivalent.
  • Certain instructional areas may require industry-specific certifications, licensure, or other credentials based on program, accreditation, regulatory, or workforce requirements.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with and respond to diverse populations and situations that arise.
  • Ability to think quickly and respond appropriately in high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent organizational skills, time management, flexibility, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to remain apprised of current industry standards and state laws and regulations.
  • Ability to build and maintain internal and external work-related relationships.
