Job summary

AeroVect is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Infrastructure (On-Prem), to own and operate the physical infrastructure powering autonomous vehicle operations at our garage facilities. You will manage on-prem hardware, network gear, and data pipelines that feed real-time vehicle data and cloud handoff.

You will collaborate across teams to ensure reliable deployment pipelines, maintain an operator-facing UI, and drive automation for on-site processing in a fast-paced, live airport environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years managing on-prem infrastructure, bare metal systems, and physical networking environments.
• Proficiency in C++ for data processing; includes standard library, multithreading, socket/WebSocket.
• Strong Python and Bash skills for automation and operational tooling.
• Hands-on experience configuring servers and network hardware.
• Experience deploying software pipelines to physical devices or embedded systems.
• Familiarity with data ingestion pipelines and edge-to-central data flows.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, shifting operational environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop, configure and maintain uploaders and networking gear at AeroVect's garage facilities.
• Manage software release delivery to autonomous tractors and on-prem devices across sites.
• Build and maintain on-prem data processing apps in C++ and Python for real-time data.
• Ensure reliable ingestion of vehicle data and manage upload to cloud infra.
• Maintain and improve an operator-facing UI for garage operations.
• Monitor server health, network performance, and data pipeline reliability.
• Develop automation tools in Python and Bash for on-prem ops and deployment.
• Collaborate with cloud team to ensure clean data handoff between on-prem and cloud.
• Adapt quickly to shifting priorities across deployment environments.
