Job summary

Footprint is hiring a senior infrastructure-focused engineer to own Percy’s backend compute, observability, and CI/CD. You will define how agents are provisioned, isolated, and scaled, and shape the tooling that speeds engineers.

You will balance build-versus-buy decisions as Footprint scales in the fintech safety space. You'll work on an early-stage, mission-driven team protecting sensitive financial data, reporting to the Head of Engineering.

Qualifications

• 4+ years operating production infrastructure on a major cloud, provisioning, deploying, and debugging real systems under load.
• Fluency with infrastructure-as-code and a track record of managing infrastructure declaratively.
• Strong observability instincts: metrics, traces, logs, and alerting for rapid incident resolution.
• Experience owning CI/CD pipelines and the build and deploy systems an org depends on.
• Depth on relational databases, especially Postgres: performance, scaling, and safe changes.
• Bias toward tooling that makes the team faster.
• Comfort juggling several competing priorities at once.
• Comfort at an early-stage company taking ownership of a new function.

Responsibilities

• Own agent compute provisioning, deployment, isolation, and scaling for Percy’s sandboxed environments.
• Define and measure reliability, latency, and cost for Rust services and AI agents.
• Own CI/CD pipelines, per-PR epoxy environments, merge queue, and testing strategy.
• Make build-versus-buy decisions for task scheduling as the company scales.
• Improve developer experience by building tools and paved paths for Footprint engineers.
• Contribute to product work when infrastructure supports a product objective.
