Job description

Santa Ana, California, United States

Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.

ABOUT THE TEAM

Anduril's Manufacturing Technology, Maritime Team is building the next generation of advanced AI-driven factories to manufacture large-scale autonomous maritime systems at unprecedented speed and scale. The Maritime Manufacturing Technology Team is responsible for rapidly developing and implementing manufacturing technologies and processes for cutting-edge defense hardware, including deployable static and moving surface, undersea and sea to air vehicles, and scaling these products in our new manufacturing facilities. Our industrialization approach combines advanced manufacturing methods, digital integration, and adaptive planning to compress development timelines while de-risking production decisions.

ABOUT THE JOB

As an Industrial Engineer on the Production Controls team, you will develop and maintain discrete event simulation models and critical chain schedules that drive production planning for Anduril's advanced AI factory. You will use simulation and modeling tools to visualize production systems, identify bottlenecks, and optimize resource allocation—translating analytical insights into actionable production control decisions. You will also integrate technology into daily workflows by writing scripts and building automated processes that increase the team's throughput and decision speed. This is a hands‑on role for someone with strong Operations Research fundamentals who is eager to apply simulation, optimization, and scripting to real manufacturing problems at scale.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Plant and equipment layouts, material flow paths, and space allocation for a new maritime factory.
  • Capacity plans and rate models: units per year under a given configuration, with the sensitivity analysis behind the number.
  • Sequencing of operations and work flow: how a build is broken into stations, what runs in parallel, where the unit sits and for how long.
  • Discrete-event simulation of the factory and the line, used as the primary way we validate capacity before the building exists.
  • Designing and optimizing the production system by integrating design, supply base, facilities, equipment, and personnel.
  • Feeding the precedence network that our dynamic scheduling system (LOKI) plans against.
  • Technical direction on production system design across VCS and Megalodon build processes: you set the method, others execute it.
  • Requirements to our architecture/engineering firm and outside consultants, and review of what comes back.
  • The trade studies that close at design review: building configuration, bay allocation, automation degree, station count.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 10+ years in production system design, factory design, or manufacturing engineering for large complex products, including at least one program where you owned the capacity or rate commitment.
  • Demonstrated capacity or rate modeling: you have built the model, defended the number, and been held to it.
  • Comfort with simulation or quantitative modeling (FlexSim, Simio, AnyLogic, Plant Simulation, or Python).
  • No degree required. We hire on demonstrated capability. Apprenticeship, Navy Nuclear Power School, military experience, trade background, or self‑taught modeling all count.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, operations research, manufacturing engineering, systems engineering, or related technical field.
  • Shipyard or aerospace final‑assembly experience: stage of construction, module breakdown, pre‑outfitting, erection sequence.
  • Greenfield or major‑expansion factory work.
