Job summary

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems seeks a Staff Systems Engineer - RF/Hardware SME to lead system integration and test for RF sensor systems. This 2nd shift, on-site role requires a DoD Secret clearance and a strong background in RF hardware, MATLAB, C/C++, and embedded systems in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.

You will own integration strategies, develop test plans, and coordinate with product design teams and IPT leads to ensure successful hardware deliveries and customer

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM with relevant field and extensive experience preferred.
• Active DoD Secret clearance and ability to obtain SAP before start is required.
• Strong depth of RF hardware and test equipment.
• Proficiency in MATLAB coding, test scripting, data analysis and signal processing.
• Experience with firmware and hardware control integration planning and execution.
• Experience with software in C/C++ for integration & testing.
• Ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team and communicate effectively.
• On-site work in Baltimore, MD and willingness to work 2nd shift.

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems' Baltimore and Partnered Sites (BaPs) division is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer - RF / Hardware SME, Systems Integration & Test to work 2nd shift.

What You’ll Get to Do:

Senior Technical Leader for System Integration & Test (SIT), with emphasis on RF and Integrated Assembly subject‑matter expertise . This role owns integration of the system integrated assembly, including hardware, firmware and control software, across multiple environments to support hardware deliveries, capability releases, and customer testing. The engineer defines RF and sensor test strategies, leads complex integration and troubleshooting, and serves as a key technical interface to program and customer leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Systems Integration & Test technical expert on programs, leading integration, testing & troubleshooting of RF sensor systems
• Lead system integration strategy and flow development, developing test plans and defining test environments, scenarios and objectives
• Drives a multi-disciplinary integration team through technical hurdles and solutions, enforcing integration processes
• Interfaces with product design teams for implementation of root cause resolutions
• Working with Integrated Product Team leads to develop schedules, develop material for and present at technical design reviews, and assist with resource management, including engineering staff, benches, and integration assets

This is a 2nd shift role.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 12 years' experience, Master's degree with 10 years' experience, 8 years' experience with PhD
• Active DoD Secret clearance and the ability to obtain/maintain Special Program Access (SAP) prior to start is required.
• Strong depth of experience with RF Hardware and test equipment
• Strong depth of experience with MATLAB coding, test scripting, data analysis and signal processing
• Knowledge and experience in firmware and hardware control integration planning and execution
• Knowledge and experience integration & testing software written in C, C++.
• Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex HW/SW integration problems
• Strong understanding of Systems Engineering concepts, including requirements analysis and verification planning and execution
• Experience working in and leading a multi-disciplinary team environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate internally and external team members
• Some experience working with embedded systems design and implementation
• Ability to work onsite in Baltimore, MD
• Willingness to work 2nd shift

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge and experience in the development of ground, air, or sea-based radar, EW, or COMMS systems
• Knowledge and experience in experimental Flight Test planning and execution
• Knowledge and experience in environmental and EMI/EMC planning and execution
• Knowledge and experience in secure processing and systems security integration planning and execution
• Knowledge and experience in on-site test demonstrations planning and execution
• Utilizes experience and knowledge of lab test equipment to develop and apply digital engineering tools and techniques to further the progress of digital transformation for Systems Engineering and Integration and Test.
• Knowledge and experience with proposals, basis of estimate creation, technical volumes, etc.
• Knowledge and experience developing scripts/code in Python/C/C++ to automate manual processes
