Job summary

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Sr. Staff Systems Engineer - RF / Hardware SME to lead System Integration & Test across multiple environments, owning RF sensor integration, hardware, firmware, and control software deliveries for programs and customer testing.

This senior role requires DoD Secret clearance, a STEM degree with extensive experience, and strong MATLAB, C/C++, and embedded systems expertise. The position is onsite in Baltimore, MD with travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with extensive experience; Master’s or PhD preferred for advanced roles.
• Secret clearance or ability to obtain; DoD program environment familiarity.
• Strong RF hardware and test equipment experience; MATLAB coding, data analysis, and signal processing proficiency.
• Firmware and hardware control integration planning and execution; embedded systems exposure.

Responsibilities

• Lead System Integration & Test (SIT) activities for RF sensor systems across multiple environments.
• Define RF test strategies, develop test plans, and oversee complex integration and troubleshooting.
• Guide cross-functional teams and interface with product design to resolve root causes.

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems' Baltimore and Partnered Sites (BaPs) division is seeking a Sr. Staff Systems Engineer - RF / Hardware SME, Systems Integration & Test

What You'll Get to Do:

Senior Technical Leader for System Integration & Test (SIT), with emphasis on RF and Integrated Assembly subject‑matter expertise . This role owns integration of the system integrated assembly, including hardware, firmware and control software, across multiple environments to support hardware deliveries, capability releases, and customer testing. The engineer defines RF and sensor test strategies, leads complex integration and troubleshooting, and serves as a key technical interface to program and customer leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Systems Integration & Test technical expert on programs, leading integration, testing & troubleshooting of RF sensor systems
• Lead system integration strategy and flow development, developing test plans and defining test environments, scenarios and objective
• Drives a multi-disciplinary integration team through technical Hurdles and solutions, enforcing integration processes
• Interfaces with product design teams for implementation of root cause resolutions
• Working with Integrated Product Team leads to develop schedules, develop material for and present at technical design reviews, and assist with resource management, including engineering staff, benches, and integration assets

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 14 years' experience, Master's degree with 12 years' experience, 10 years' experience with PhD
• Active DoD Secret clearance and the ability to obtain/maintain Special Program Access (SAP) prior to start is required.
• Strong depth of experience with RF Hardware and test equipment
• Strong depth of experience with MATLAB coding, test scripting, data analysis and signal processing
• Knowledge and experience in firmware and hardware control integration planning and execution
• Knowledge and experience integration & testing software written in C, C++.
• Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex HW/SW integration problems
• Strong understanding of Systems Engineering concepts, including requirements analysis and verification planning and execution
• Experience working in and leading a multi-disciplinary team environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate internally and external team members
• Some experience working with embedded systems design and implementation
• Ability to work onsite in Baltimore, MD
