Job summary

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems in Baltimore, MD seeks a Staff Systems Engineer - RF / Hardware SME, SIT. You will lead system integration & test, focusing on RF sensor systems, hardware, firmware and control software across environments to support deliveries and customer testing.

Qualifications include active DoD Secret clearance, 12+ years in STEM, strong RF hardware and MATLAB/Python/C/C++ experience, and proven leadership in multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 12 years' experience, Master's with 10 years, or PhD with 8 years.
• Active DoD Secret clearance and ability to obtain SAP prior to start.
• Strong depth of RF hardware and test equipment, MATLAB coding, data analysis, and signal processing; firmware and hardware control integration planning and execution; and C/C++ software for integration.

Responsibilities

• Lead System Integration & Test (SIT) for RF sensor systems; oversee hardware, firmware, and control software across environments.
• Develop integration strategy, test plans, environments, and objectives; guide a multi-disciplinary team to resolve complex issues.
• Interface with design teams for root-cause resolution; present at technical design reviews; manage resources and schedules.

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems' Baltimore and Partnered Sites (BaPs) division is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer - RF / Hardware SME, Systems Integration & Test

What You'll Get to Do:

Senior Technical Leader for System Integration & Test (SIT), with emphasis on RF and Integrated Assembly subject-matter expertise . This role owns integration of the system integrated assembly, including hardware, firmware and control software, across multiple environments to support hardware deliveries, capability releases, and customer testing. The engineer defines RF and sensor test strategies, leads complex integration and troubleshooting, and serves as a key technical interface to program and customer leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Systems Integration & Test technical expert on programs, leading integration, testing & troubleshooting of RF sensor systems
• Lead system integration strategy and flow development, developing test plans and defining test environments, scenarios and objectives
• Drivers a multi-disciplinary integration team through technical hurdles and solutions, enforcing integration processes
• Interfaces with product design teams for implementation of root cause resolutions
• Working with Integrated Product Team leads to develop schedules, develop material for and present at technical design reviews, and assist with resource management, including engineering staff, benches, and integration assets

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 12 years' experience, Master's degree with 10 years' experience, 8 years' experience with PhD
• Active DoD Secret clearance and the ability to obtain/maintain Special Program Access (SAP) prior to start is required.
• Strong depth of experience with RF Hardware and test equipment
• Strong depth of experience with MATLAB coding, test scripting, data analysis and signal processing
• Knowledge and experience in firmware and hardware control integration planning and execution
• Knowledge and experience integration & testing software written in C, C++.
• Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex HW/SW integration problems
• Strong understanding of Systems Engineering concepts, including requirements analysis and verification planning and execution
• Experience working in and leading a multi-disciplinary team environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate internally and external team members
• Some experience working with embedded systems design and implementation
• Ability to work onsite in Baltimore, MD

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge and experience in the development of ground, air, or sea-based radar, EW, or COMMS systems
• Knowledge and experience in experimental Flight Test planning and execution
• Knowledge and experience in environmental and EMI/EMC planning and execution
• Knowledge and experience in secure processing and systems security integration planning and execution
• Knowledge and experience in on-site test demonstrations planning and execution
• Utilizes experience and knowledge of lab test equipment to develop and apply digital engineering tools and techniques to further the progress of digital transformation for Systems Engineering and Integration and Test.
• Knowledge and experience with proposals, basis of estimate creation, technical volumes, etc.
• Knowledge and experience developing scripts/code in Python/C/C++ to automate manual processes
• Knowledge and experience with Agile principles, tools, and implementation
