Job summary

Stack AV Co in Pittsburgh, PA (or remote) seeks a Staff Hardware Engineer to own the electrical distribution system and wiring harness design for autonomous vehicle platforms. You will translate system requirements into robust power, grounding, and network architectures and shepherd the design through schematic definition, 3D packaging, release, build, validation, and production support.

Qualifications

• BS in electrical engineering or related field; advanced degree is a plus.
• 5+ years of relevant electrical distribution system or wiring harness experience; 8+ years for staff level.
• Certifications and standards such as IPC/WHMA-A-620, SAE/AIAG credentials, Six Sigma are a plus.
• Experience taking harnesses from requirements to production support.
• Understanding of EDS architecture, wire sizing, voltage drop, grounding, and connectors.

Responsibilities

• Own the EDS and wiring harness architecture, including power distribution, grounding, circuit protection, signal integrity, and network interfaces.
• Develop and release schematics, wiring diagrams, pinouts, harness drawings, BOMs, and installation documentation.
• Perform wire sizing, voltage-drop, current-capacity, fuse, relay, connector, terminal, and grounding analyses.
• Partner with systems, electrical, mechanical, firmware, manufacturing, and supplier teams to resolve integration issues.
• Lead design reviews, electrical interface definition, change control, and configuration management from concept through production-intent hardware.
• Define and execute harness verification and validation plans, including continuity, insulation, hipot, EMI/EMC, environmental, and vehicle-level testing.
