Job summary

Fugro is seeking a Staff Geophysicist in the United States (Georgia) to collect geophysical data and maintain field logging on client sites. The role requires rigorous attention to detail and strong teamwork with colleagues, clients, and third parties.

Staff Geophysicist

Staff Geophysicist is responsible for collecting geophysical data and maintaining logging on client sites. This individual must have strong attention to detail and maintain effective work relations with those encountered including colleagues, clients, suppliers and other third parties.

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead by example and place Quality, Health & Safety, Security, and the protection of the Environment as core values while never intentionally placing employees, our processes, customers, or the communities in which we live and work at risk.
  • Support the collection of high-quality geophysical data in accordance with project specifications and established procedures.
  • Conduct field surveys utilizing geophysical methods such as Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), Electromagnetic (EM), Electrical Resistivity, Magnetics, and other applicable technologies.
  • Operate geophysical instrumentation and associated data acquisition systems.
  • Assist with project mobilization and demobilization activities.
  • Verify data quality during field operations and identify potential issues requiring corrective action.
  • Ensure accurate positioning, measurements, and survey documentation during field activities.
  • Perform preliminary data reduction, quality control, and processing of geophysical datasets.
  • Review collected data to identify inconsistencies, anomalies, or data quality concerns.
  • Support preparation of technical deliverables, maps, figures, and factual reports.
  • Maintain organized project files, field records, and data archives.
  • Assist senior geophysicists with data interpretation and project analyses.
  • Utilize geophysical and geospatial software tools to support project execution.
  • Perform routine inspection, testing, calibration, and maintenance of geophysical equipment.
  • Assist in troubleshooting equipment and software issues encountered during field operations.
  • Maintain equipment inventory and ensure instruments are prepared for deployment. Also, monitor equipment performance and communicate maintenance requirements.
  • Maintain accurate field notes, survey logs, and project documentation.
  • Collaborate with project managers, geophysicists, technicians, and other project team members. Assist in meeting project schedules, quality expectations, and operational objectives.
  • Respond effectively to changing project requirements and field conditions.
  • Ability to travel up to 80%.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions.
  • Possess or be able to obtain valid passport, possible international and domestic travel/assignments may be required
  • Possess a bachelor’s degree in Geophysics, Geology and or Geosciences required.
  • Have field experience in collecting data through various geophysical methods (GPR, EM methods, seismic, electrical resistivity, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Windows operating system, including but not limited to Windows 7.
