STAFF GEOLOGIST / STAFF ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST / STAFF ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER

Broadbent & Associates, Inc. of Salt Lake City, Utah is looking to hire an organized full-time Staff Scientist or Engineer to support a wide variety of environmental projects. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A STAFF SCIENTIST OR STAFF ENGINEER

As a Staff Scientist or Staff Engineer your hard work ensures that we deliver for our clients. Under the supervision of a Principal Geologist, you provide support on a wide range of environmental projects including: collection of surface and groundwater samples, water and wastewater engineering design under supervision of a Professional Engineer, remediation system operation and maintenance, water and wastewater treatment facility monitoring, and water resources investigations. Your primary job function will be to support the Salt Lake City, UT office. You will support field work activities as needed to drive project execution and ensure that appropriate health and safety procedures are being followed.

People skills are essential as you interact regularly with contractors, regulators, and clientele. Though some time is spent in the Salt Lake City, UT office, preparing project reports and completing routine administrative tasks, you are also responsible for conducting field activities such as seeps and spring monitoring, well sampling, and operations or water systems. Collected field data is summarized in reports and presented to Project Managers. QUALIFICATIONS FOR SCIENTIST/ENGINEER

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Earth Science or other related fields
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and traverse moderate mountainous terrain with a 30-pound pack
  • Ability to safely drive two-track trails and use GPS
  • Technical writing competency
  • Strong technical and computer skills
  • Self-starter, quick learner and effective communicator
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • Ability to work consecutive long days in the field under varying adverse weather conditions (hot, cold, windy, and sometimes wet)
