SCI Engineering, Inc. seeks a Staff Geologist to join its Geotechnical Services group in St. Charles, Missouri.

You will apply geologic skills to projects involving heavy soils, karst features, underground mines, construction management, and environmental compliance while developing business skills for a successful consulting career. The role emphasizes field investigations, data collection, and collaboration with clients and regulators.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geology required.
• Advanced degree in Geology preferred.
• Professional licensure (P.G.) or ability to obtain within four years required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate project planning, sampling, and health and safety plan development.
• Coordinate utility clearance with 811 and private locators.
• Conduct geological field investigations and data collection.
• Assist with laboratory testing and oversee construction monitoring.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

• Project planning and coordination including subcontractor procurement, sampling and health and safety plan development, project management support with client and regulatory interfacing
• Utility clearance coordination with one call (811) and private utility locators, clients, and contractors
• Conduct geological field investigations and data collection
• Assist with laboratory testing
• Monitoring and oversight of construction projects including deep foundations, ground improvement installation, load testing, and retaining wall construction

Qualifications

• Experience with Geographical Information System (GIS) field data collection tools(preferred)
• Strong oral and technical writing skills(required)
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record for business travel(required)
• Ability to travel out of town for up to 1 week at a time (preferred)
• Geotechnical laboratory testing experience (preferred)
• Bachelors degree in Geology is required
• Advanced degree in Geology is preferred
• Holds professional licensure or has ability to obtain professional licensure (P.G.) within four years (required)

Additional Information

• Training: this position requires 40-hour OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
• Fieldwork: Up to 80%
• Overnight travel: Up to 40%
