Job summary

Arcadis seeks an Environmental Geologist to join our Resilience Environment team in the Mountain West Region of the United States. The role blends field (30-50%) and office work, offering hands-on experience with mentorship and growth.

You’ll collaborate with engineers, project and program managers, and technical experts on impactful projects while contributing to regulatory compliance, site characterization, and remediation tasks across soil, groundwater, and surface water media.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
• Preferred: OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER and MSHA 24 hr Surface Mine.

Responsibilities

• Assist PMs with planning baseline surveys, permitting, data evaluations, and remediation tasks.
• Coordinate fieldwork including drilling oversight for soil sampling and groundwater wells.
• Prepare technical reports, work plans, letters and memoranda.
• Communicate with project teams, clients and regulatory agencies.
• Analyze field data using Leapfrog and ArcGIS.

You will work alongside Engineers, Project/Program Managers, and Technical Experts on various activities and projects.

Accountabilities

As part of this role, you will be responsible for assisting Project Managers (PMs) in planning and executing baseline surveys, permitting, data evaluations, regulatory compliance, environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation tasks.

Your responsibilities will include office and field work. Field work will often be performed at project sites with environmental media (e.g., soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, etc.) and will offer you an opportunity to plan, coordinate, and oversee various scopes of work including drilling for soil sampling and groundwater well installation, groundwater sampling, and subcontractor oversight. It is essential to conduct and manage fieldwork with a focus on health and safety.

• Collaborating with multiple engineering disciplines, hydrologists, and geologists on relevant project work
• Participate in all aspects of permitting, site investigation, and remediation projects
• Communicate and work closely with project teams, clients, and regulatory agencies
• Perform fieldwork which may include drilling oversight for soil sampling and/or groundwater well installation, groundwater sampling, or subcontractor oversight
• Assisting with writing and preparing technical reports, work plans, letters, and memorandum
• Conduct project-related research (historical data, regulations. Prepare periodic status/program reports
• Analyze and interpret field data, Utilize basic software skills such as Leapfrog, and ArcGIS

To be successful in this role, you should possess strong written and oral communication skills, be self‑motivated, and exhibit independent thinking. You should be able to work effectively and efficiently in a team setting as well as independently and remotely. Successful candidates will demonstrate their ability to be adaptable, creative problem solvers who can work collaboratively as a team member.

This position encompasses both office work (task management, data analysis, report preparation, scope preparation, and client communications) as well as field work.

• Bachelor’s of Science in Geology, Hydrogeology, or closely related field (i.e., environmental science, physical science)
• 5 years of experience

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year.

The salary range for this position is $68,400 - $102,600.

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
