Arcadis U.S.Inc. in Greenville, SC is seeking a field-focused role to support environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation.

The position combines field work (soil, groundwater, vapor sampling) with office tasks such as data interpretation, cost estimates, and report writing.

Travel up to 1–2 days per week may be required; a BS in Geology or Hydrogeology and a valid driver's license are essential.

• 3+ years of experience in environmental fieldwork

Responsibilities

• Assist Project/Task Managers in planning and executing site characterization, investigation and remediation tasks.
• Conduct field work including soil, groundwater, and/or vapor sampling; oversee subcontractors for drilling investigations.
• Travel regionally up to 1–2 days per week; participate in large-scale site characterization and remediation.
• Prepare equipment quotes, order and track equipment, supplies and lab orders; complete field forms and safety plans.
• Write technical reports, work plans, letters and memoranda.
• Office duties include data compilation, cost estimates, safety plan prep, regulatory file reviews, cost/proposal prep, and schedule/budget management.

Role accountabilities

As part of this role, you will be based out of our Greenville, SC office and be responsible for assisting Project Managers and Task Managers in planning and executing environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation tasks.

• Conduct field work including soil, groundwater, and/or vapor sampling in the field. Provide oversight of subcontractors for various phases of drilling investigation work (soil borings, in-situ groundwater sampling, and monitoring well installation activities.
• Field work may require regional business travel for up to 1-2 days per week on average, with some field events that may last multiple weeks in a row, and opportunities to participate in large scale site characterization and remediation.
• Assist task managers and project managers with field work preparation: obtain equipment and subcontractor quotes, order and track equipment, supplies, and laboratory orders, prepare paperwork (field forms, health & safety plans, etc.).
• Writing and preparing technical reports, work plans, letters, and memoranda.
• Office work may include task coordination, data compilation and interpretation, cost estimates, health & safety plan preparation, report writing, regulatory file reviews, assisting in costing and proposal preparation, project strategy development, schedule and budget management, and establishment of subcontracts.

To be successful in this role, you should possess strong written and oral communication skills, be self‑motivated, and exhibit independent thinking. You should be able to work effectively and efficiently in a team setting as well as independently and remotely. Successful candidates will demonstrate their ability to be adaptable, creative problem solvers who can work collaboratively as a team member.

In summary, this position encompasses both field work and office work (task management, data analysis, report preparation, scope preparation, and client communications). This position is anticipated to spend 75% field work with 25% of the time spent in the office. Travel expenses are reimbursable.

Qualifications & Experience

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's of Science in Geology, Hydrogeology, or closely related field (i.e., environmental science, physical science)
• 3 years of experience within the industry
• Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

• Current OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year.

The salary range for this position is $58,320 - $87,480. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
