Job summary

SLR Consulting (US) is seeking an entry-level Staff Geologist to join our Bothell, WA operations. This full-time role offers hands-on experience in soil and groundwater assessment and remediation projects while engaging with clients and contractors.

Ideal candidates have a relevant degree, 0–2 years of field experience, and willingness to travel; proficiency in MS Office and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science or related field.
  • 0-2 years of experience with soil and groundwater assessment and remediation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) with soil, groundwater and/or soil-vapor sampling.
  • Contractor/driller oversight for monitoring well installation, soil excavation, building demolition.
  • Coordinate long-term groundwater monitoring programs (i.e., quarterly events).
  • Assist with permits and public utility locate requests for environmental construction tasks.
  • Provide construction oversight on environmental remediation projects, operations, and maintenance of remediation systems.
  • Assist in data interpretation and preparation of site work plans, spreadsheets, figures, CSMs, and technical reports.
  • Engage with the company’s Health & Safety program.
  • Communicate with Project Managers, subcontractors, regulatory agents, tenants, and clients during field activities.
  • Work within quality/budget/schedule expectations and scope-specific assignments.

We deliver environmental and sustainability services to our clients through the integration of over 30 advisory, technical environmental, and engineering disciplines to help clients address some of their most complex challenges around sustainability. We are Making Sustainability Happen. SLR International Corporation is seeking an entry level Staff Geologist to join our Bothell, Washington operations. Preferred candidates will have a strong and relevant academic, employment, and technical background. This role offers the opportunity to work on soil and groundwater assessment and remediation projects while also being exposed to other disciplines within the environmental consulting industry and will provide hands-on experience interacting with clients and contractors. This full-time position is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic and growing international environmental consulting organization.

The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $75,000.

Final agreed upon compensation will be commensurate with individual education, professional designation, experience, internal parity, and location.

Full-time, permanent role with opportunities for professional growth and advancement.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Environmental Science or related field
  • 0-2 years of experience with soil and groundwater assessment and remediation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to travel by airplane and car, including overnight travel for extended periods (possibly for 2 weeks or greater)
  • Ability to perform physical work in harsh weather conditions
  • Job duties performed on-site
Desired Qualifications
  • Certified Erosion Sediment Control Lead (CESCL)
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification
  • Washington UST/AST Site Assessment certification
  • Professional Geologist (PG) or Geologist-in-Training (GIT) in Oregon and Washington
Technical Skills and Experience
  • Soil classification and borehole logging; well design & construction
  • Understanding of contaminant fate & transport concepts and conceptual site models
  • Sampling of environmental media, including: soil, groundwater, air, and soil-vapor
  • Experience with mechanical and electrical troubleshooting of remediation systems
  • Experience in technical writing and development of technical documents
