Job summary

Talent in New York City is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to take technical ownership of critical product features and influence architecture. You will enable scale across frontend, backend, data and infrastructure while mentoring engineers and improving processes.

You'll work in a hybrid NYC environment, collaborating with product and business teams to shape the roadmap and deliver secure, scalable applications with TypeScript, Python, and modern AI tools such as Cursor and Claude Code.

Qualifications

• 7+ years software engineering experience, at least 1 year at staff level.
• Strong hands-on experience with Python and/or TypeScript.
• Proven experience owning and shipping complex, scalable applications.
• Strong technical leadership and mentoring capabilities.
• Experience using modern AI development tools.

Responsibilities

• Own complex features and systems end-to-end, from architecture through production
• Build scalable, secure and well-tested applications and infrastructure
• Drive technical strategy and high-impact architectural improvements
• Work across frontend, backend, data and infrastructure as needed
• Partner closely with product and business teams to shape the roadmap
• Mentor engineers through technical leadership, code reviews and pair programming
• Improve engineering practices, performance and development processes
