Job summary

Harvey AI in San Francisco is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead cross-functional engineering efforts across product lines and AI initiatives. You will work with the AI, Legal, and GTM teams to build secure, scalable systems that deliver value to customers.

You will ship across the stack using React/TypeScript on the frontend and Python/Postgres on the backend, focusing on scalable data processing, security, and developer experience.

Qualifications

• 10+ YoE (post-BS/MS) in a product focused full-stack software engineering role.
• Experience with React, Typescript, CSS (we use TailwindCSS).
• Track record of building fast-growing SaaS products.
• Track record of shipping highly intuitive products, strong attention to detail.
• Experience building scalable and extensible solutions across the stack that can support multiple product lines.
• Strong programming skills and general Computer Science knowledge.
• Grit
• Experience working at early-stage startups is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Scale document ingestion and processing that grows 10x every 6 months.
• Design data collection from 50+ legal jurisdictions.
• Build government-level security for top governments and firms.
• Lead projects delivering AI to web, desktop, mobile, Docs, Word, and API.
• Build AI-native features like agentic orchestration layers, tool calls, and retrieval.
• Ship full-stack apps with React/TypeScript front end and Python/Postgres back end.
