Job summary

Stripe is seeking a Staff Engineer for Payment Intelligence to shape the technical strategy across multiple experiences on the critical payments stack. You’ll work with ML colleagues, engineers, and product partners to design scalable systems and drive high-impact initiatives.

You will lead engineering teams, mentor staff, and advocate for quality, reliability, and performance on distributed services touching every Stripe transaction.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• 5+ years in a strategic technical leadership role.
• Experience with distributed systems and API design.

Responsibilities

• Define technical strategy across the Payment Intelligence portfolio.
• Champion a quality-first engineering culture with standards, tooling, and processes.
• Partner with Stripe merchants to co-build future payment-centric intelligence.
• Collaborate with product, design, and ML colleagues to ship high-quality software.
• Contribute across the stack including infrastructure, FE, API, and ML-adjacent work.
