Carbon is seeking a Firmware Engineer to lead our firmware team and architect the firmware stack for our products in Sunnyvale, CA. You will design, validate, and ship firmware, writing drivers and state machines for custom PCBs and integrating firmware into the software update pipeline.

You will develop real-time C/C++ firmware on TI/ARM platforms, perform testing with Python/C++, and mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years of firmware engineering experience.
• Deep experience with C, C++, and Python.
• Strong grasp of analog and digital circuits and schematics.
• Experience with TI microcontrollers and interfaces (USB, I2C, SPI, UART).
• Proficient with Git or similar version control.

Responsabilités

• Lead the firmware engineering team and represent firmware priorities in cross-functional design discussions.
• Partner with EE/ME/Software/Systems to design, validate, and ship products.
• Write drivers and state machines for custom PCBs.
• Build firmware within mechanical design constraints and integrate into software update pipelines.
• Develop and maintain real-time C/C++ firmware on TI/ARM platforms using TI-RTOS.
• Build unit, board, and regression tests using C++ and Python (TDD).
• Define and implement firmware development best practices.
• Mentor junior engineers and support EE/Systems engineers.
