A fast-growing, venture‑backed startup in the AI learning space is hiring a Staff‑level Ruby on Rails Engineer to lead backend architecture and help scale a real‑time learning platform used by hundreds of thousands of users.

If you want to shape core systems, work directly with founders, and build foundational technology at a company scaling rapidly, this role is for you.

What You Will Do

• Own and evolve core backend systems in Ruby on Rails
• Architect scalable, secure systems powering real‑time learning delivery across multiple communication channels like SMS and Teams
• Work closely with product and design to ship impactful features quickly
• Mentor engineers and influence engineering culture and processes
• Drive long‑term technical strategy and standards

What You Bring

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience
• Deep experience with Ruby on Rails and production‑scale systems
• Solid knowledge of PostgreSQL, GraphQL, REST APIs, ActiveRecord, and Sidekiq
• Strong system architecture and scalability background
• Ability to collaborate cross‑functionally and communicate clearly
• Curiosity and interest in applied AI
