LaraBench is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the design and evolution of a real-time Elasticsearch-powered search platform in Chicago. The role combines hands-on development with technical leadership, building high-performance Go APIs and maintaining Elasticsearch clusters for billions of posts.

You will mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions, and work with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into scalable, reliable software.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of professional software development experience with a strong Computer Science foundation.
• 3+ years of recent hands-on experience with Elasticsearch (or similar search technologies).
• Experience designing and operating complex distributed systems and high-load services.
• Proficiency with AWS and cloud-native development.
• Strong Go development skills and ability to learn quickly if needed.
• Experience building RESTful APIs and modern web frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and evolution of a real-time search platform used by millions of profiles and posts.
• Architect and maintain Elasticsearch clusters; build high-performance Go APIs.
• Mentor engineers and drive technical excellence within the team.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Architects, and Eng teams to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
