Job summary

Raft is a U.S.-based defense-tech company seeking a Staff Engineer to guide architecture for real-time data fusion and operation monitoring. You will mentor engineers, shape technical strategy, and collaborate with product teams to deliver mission-critical capabilities.

The role focuses on building fault-tolerant, streaming-first platforms using Kafka, Pinot, Java/Scala, and Kubernetes, with strict security requirements and DoD-facing deployments.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of hands-on experience building large-scale data platforms.
• Deep experience with streaming systems (Kafka/Pinot/Flink) for high throughput.
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch for low-latency workloads.
• Experience in data management including ETL, governance, and storage.
• Experience delivering software in cloud-native environments.
• Familiarity with Maven/Gradle/NPM for multi-language stacks.
• Security+ certification to be obtained within the first 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level architecture decisions and design guidance across teams.
• Mentor senior and mid-level engineers and drive technical excellence.
• Collaborate hands-on with a cross-functional team to deliver DoD-grade data solutions.
