Job summary

tem is building AI-native pricing infrastructure for energy markets and seeks a Staff Software Engineer for Pricing. You’ll own the Pricing API behind RED, ensuring fast, correct prices for business contracts and fast third-party access.

A senior role focused on backend and data-heavy systems with a strong emphasis on explainability and reliability. You’ll shape pricing boundaries, drive a single service design, and raise the engineering bar across squads through reviews and standards.

Qualifications

• Deep production backend Python with APIs at scale.
• Led decoupling or migration of a live system without breaking dependents.
• Strong FastAPI and SQL, data-heavy analytics systems.
• You set technical direction across teams and boundaries.
• You design multi-agent workflows to raise throughput.
• Product engineering judgement balancing speed, accuracy and explainability.

Responsibilities

• Build and iterate the Pricing API for speed, correctness, and third-party access.
• Untangle pricing logic into a standalone service with clean boundaries.
• Own reliability: detect pricing errors and explain unusable prices.
• Raise engineering standards through reviews, patterns, and cohorts.
• Lead live pricing incidents and turn lessons into fixes on the roadmap.
