Job summary

Emerald AI seeks a senior software engineer to build the Grid Services that connect Emerald Conductor to the electric grid. You will craft systems enabling data centers to participate in wholesale markets and demand response, ingest grid signals, forecast behavior, and dispatch across utilities and market operators.

You will help define architecture as an early team member, owning major technical decisions and collaborating with control systems, platform, and AI teams to translate grid-side

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience in production Python systems.
• Experience designing and operating reliable distributed software.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure), Docker/Kubernetes, and CI/CD.
• Experience building data pipelines with large-scale datasets.
• Familiarity with SQL and modern data engineering practices.
• Experience in electric utilities, ISOs/RTOs, wholesale markets, or energy systems.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in CS, EE, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Design and build software integrations with ISOs/RTOs, utilities, aggregators, and demand response platforms.
• Develop optimization and control algorithms for data center resources dispatched to grid signals.
• Build forecasting models for electricity demand, data center load, prices, and grid conditions.
• Translate market rules into production software.
• Build reliable data pipelines ingesting real-time operational data.
• Own services from design to deployment, monitoring, and operation.
