Job summary

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, seeks a Geotechnical Staff Engineer for our Westminster, Colorado office. The role involves field logging, soil laboratory work, and geotechnical report writing as part of Intertek-PSI.

Travel up to 10% and interaction with clients are expected. Qualified candidates will have a Civil/Geotechnical degree, ABET accreditation, and can obtain EIT/FE within 6 months.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil and/or Geotechnical Engineering from ABET-accredited school.
• Ability to obtain EIT/FE certification within 6 months of hire.
• Proficiency with geotechnical software: GeoStudio, APILE, LPILE, GROUP, SHAFT, SLIDE, Settle3, MSEW.
• Strong communication skills and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to read and understand work plans; willingness to travel.

What are we looking for?

The Geotechnical Staff Engineer is responsible for performing a variety of geotechnical assignments including field logging and soil laboratory assignments.

Salary & Benefits Information

The base wage or salary range for this position is $70K to $85K. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications and other job-related reasons.

What you’ll do:

• Perform a variety of geotechnical assignments including field logging and soil laboratory assignments.
• Perform geotechnical report writing.
• Review project plans and specifications prepared by others.
• Attend client site meetings.
• Communicate effectively with client and project teams.
• Work on multiple projects at a time.
• May perform on-site observations, sample collection, and specific tests.
• May work both in the field and laboratory regularly.
• Must be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil and/or Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited/ABET school is required
• Recent Graduates will be considered
  • Ability to obtain EIT/FE certification within 6 months of hire is required
• Knowledge and experience in engineering software (GeoStudio, APILE, LPILE, GROUP, SHAFT, SLIDE, Settle3 and MSEW) are preferred
• Effective communication skills (written, verbal and listening) and solid interpersonal skills are required
• The ability to read and understand work plans is requiredMust be able to work off shift and overtime as needed
• May travel up to 10% of time
• Valid Driver's License and reliable driving recordrequired
• Ability to lift, move, push, and pull 30 to 50 pounds occasionally. Additional requirements may be needed for specific sites/locations.
• Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, (hearing) and to make the discriminations in sound.
• Ability to kneel and squat occasionally
• Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
• Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (hot and cold)
• Ability to climb occasionally

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:

• 1+ years of geotechnical engineering or construction materials testing experience
• EIT/FE certification
