Job summary

Hubbell Utility Solutions is seeking a Staff Engineer to join the Engineering Enablement team. You will design and build the golden paths and end-to-end CI/CD systems for embedded firmware, enabling fastest, safest, and most reliable product development across the organization.

You will work at the intersection of embedded firmware, Python automation, Azure DevOps, and real hardware validation, delivering scalable, product-grade engineering infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software engineering, firmware development, platform engineering, or similar.
• Strong Python development for automation and tooling.
• Experience architecting CI/CD systems, Azure DevOps preferred.
• Deep understanding of build systems, version control, and release workflows.
• Experience with firmware development or embedded build systems.
• Comfortable working at software/hardware boundaries.
• Treat infrastructure and tooling as a product with usability in mind.
• Demonstrated ownership of complex systems used by engineers.
• Ability to improve reliability, speed, and developer experience across teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and build end-to-end CI/CD pipelines for embedded firmware from commit to release.
• Create reusable pipeline templates and automation frameworks across product teams.
• Develop onboarding and self-service systems to reduce setup time.
• Integrate build, test, security, signing, and release into workflows.
• Lead DevEx engineering initiatives to improve build reliability and velocity.
• Collaborate with hardware teams to enable hardware-in-the-loop validation.
• Define standard patterns to simplify engineering workflows.

Hubbell Utility Solutions is seeking a Staff Engineer (10+ years experience) to join our Engineering Enablement team — a cross‑functional group whose product is the productivity of every engineer in the organization.

This team operates on a model widely adopted across the industry (Platform Engineering / DevEx): instead of every product team solving common infrastructure challenges independently, we build shared capabilities once and continuously improve them for everyone. In this role, you will design and build the 'golden paths' engineers use every day — the fastest, safest, and most reliable way to build, test, and release embedded products. These are not documents — they are working systems: CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks, test infrastructure, and developer workflows. You will work at the intersection of embedded firmware, Python-based automation, Azure DevOps platform engineering, and real hardware validation — helping transform how engineering is performed across the organization.

• You will shape how firmware is built, tested, and released across the organization, creating shared infrastructure used by multiple teams. This is the same pattern used by leading technology companies and is commonly referred to as Platform Engineering or Developer Experience (DevEx).

• Automate build, flash, and validation workflows involving embedded toolchains and real hardware
• Integrate hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL) testing and CI systems

• Partner with engineers to identify pain points and convert them into scalable solutions

Growth Path

This role is designed as a high‑impact technical leadership position. As the Engineering Enablement function matures, this role may evolve into broader platform ownership, architectural leadership, or domain‑focused technical strategy roles.
