Job summary

Stryker Corporation in Puerto Rico is seeking a Staff Engineer, Continuous Improvement to lead Lean manufacturing and drive process enhancements across the site. You will partner with cross-functional teams to analyze workflows, implement sustainable improvements, and support new product introductions while ensuring compliant, high-quality manufacturing operations.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, 5+ years of experience in process improvement, and Lean Six

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience leading process improvement initiatives, engineering projects, manufacturing engineering activities, or project management in a production environment.
  • Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
  • Experience applying Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience using project management tools and structured project execution methodologies.
  • Professional proficiency in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce operating costs, improve efficiency, and eliminate waste.
  • Analyze manufacturing workflows, process performance, and work measurement data to identify improvement opportunities and establish operational standards.
  • Develop and implement solutions for complex technical and process-related challenges while ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Support new product and process introductions by aligning manufacturing capabilities, operational requirements, and implementation plans.
  • Evaluate and optimize plant layouts, equipment utilization, production capacity, and workflow design to improve operational performance and safety.
  • Create, update, and standardize manufacturing instructions, assembly methods, and process documentation.
  • Select manufacturing equipment and components based on technical specifications, reliability requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Partner with Quality Engineering teams to develop testing, inspection, and process validation protocols and provide technical guidance to manufacturing personnel as needed.

This role focuses on improving manufacturing performance through Lean methodologies, process optimization, and engineering excellence. As a key individual contributor, Staff Engineer, Continuous Improvement will partner with cross-functional teams to analyze workflows, implement sustainable improvements, support new product introductions, and ensure efficient, compliant, and high-quality manufacturing operations.

What You Will Do

What You Will Need

Puerto Rico: $77,700 - $129,500 USD Annual Travel Percentage: 10%

Work Flexibility Remote – Role allows you to work the majority to 100% of time from an alternate workplace. These roles could have travel expectations, and you must work within the country of the job requisition location. Field-based – You can expect to regularly work a majority to 100% of time at customer facilities and has a set territory or expectation to travel within a set boundary. Almost all sales roles would likely be qualified as field-based. Onsite – Role is 100% located at a Stryker facility. Some ad hoc flexibility may be available depending on role, level, and job requirements. Manufacturing roles and any role that requires physical presence at the office would qualify under this category. Hybrid – You can expect to regularly work in both an alternate workplace and a Stryker facility. Roles that are partially remote or co-located would qualify as hybrid, and the expectation to be onsite would be defined and agreed upon by your manager/supervisor.
