Job summary

Dolby’s Cinema Technology team in San Francisco is seeking a Staff Engineer to design and maintain real-time audio/video software for cinema playback servers and processors. You’ll work on embedded platforms, contribute to secure software stacks, and collaborate across research teams to ship innovative cinema products.

You will apply C/C++ in Linux-based environments, engage with standards groups, and lead development projects to meet schedules in a globally distributed organization.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with real-time embedded or audio/video products using C/C++.
• Strong written and verbal communication in a globally distributed organization.
• Fluency in current LLM coding techniques and guidance on risks and inefficiencies.
• Deep Linux experience, including kernel/driver patches.
• Experience with FPGA design and verification workflows is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain security and real-time audio/video software on embedded platforms (ARM, x86, FPGA).
• Design and maintain product-secured infrastructure from manufacture to release.
• Collaborate with DCI, SMPTE, and other industry groups on standards.
• Move innovative Dolby technologies to releasable, maintainable cinema products.
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies.
• Provide guidance to others inside or outside the engineering group.
• Execute development projects on schedule.
