Job summary

GEICO seeks a Staff Engineer - Capacity Engineering to build core capabilities in the Capacity Management Platform. This role enables proactive infrastructure and cloud capacity planning across GEICO's hybrid technology landscape.

You will partner with Infrastructure, Cloud, Finance, and Procurement teams to develop capacity insights, forecast demand, and support workload repatriation and subscription management while improving efficiency and cost predictability.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of infrastructure, platform, or capacity engineering experience.
• Experience with capacity planning models, workload analysis, and forecasting pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of cloud services (AWS, Azure) and on-prem lifecycles.
• Experience collaborating with procurement, hardware, or finance.
• Experience building internal tools and APIs.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of capacity forecasting systems.
• Analyze workload characteristics to optimize placement and reduce waste.
• Develop tools and APIs for real-time and forecast capacity signals.
• Design quota and subscription management for shared resources.
• Collaborate with finance, procurement, and cloud FinOps on forecasts.
• Mentor engineers on scalability and cost efficiency.
