Job summary

Kaiser Aluminum seeks a Staff Engineer - Advanced Engineering near Evansville, Indiana to own beverage end/tab and food can manufacturing equipment and testing processes. You will lead technical guidance for plant engineers, CPQA, and customers, supporting coating evaluations in Warrick Operations.

This onsite role requires 10-25% travel and emphasizes leadership, safety, and problem-solving across advanced engineering teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or fifteen plus (15+) years of related experience.
  • Five (5) years of experience in Tool and Die, Die-set assembly, Stamping Press Operation, Metal Forming, Press Maintenance and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
  • Expertise in beverage end, beverage tab and food can forming processes preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership and accountability capabilities.
  • Strong written, reporting, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and creatively within program objectives.
  • Ability to influence others and collaborate across Advanced Engineering and Warrick.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the operation, maintenance, and safety compliance of all beverage end/tab and food can making equipment and test equipment in the lab and high bay.
  • Manufacture beverage end/tabs and food cans as needed for coating evaluation.
  • Provide technical guidance and training for plant engineers, sales representatives, technicians, CPQA and customers in beverage end and food can manufacture.
  • Key role in Technical Support of Sales to assess customer field issues.
  • Use SEM analysis in addition to traditional tools of problem solving for coated products customer field issues.
  • Demonstrate a personal responsibility in establishing and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Assists CPQA Team in problem-solving product performance issues at customer locations; may require 10-25% travel.
