Job summary

Kaiser Aluminum Warrick is seeking a Staff Engineer to serve as the equipment and process owner for beverage end/tab and food can manufacturing. The role focuses on maintaining and operating critical manufacturing and test equipment, providing technical support to plant engineers and customers, and ensuring product performance and safety.

You will lead safety initiatives, drive continuous improvement, and mentor teams across engineering and CPQA to resolve performance issues at customer

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 15+ years in related field
  • 5+ years in Tool and Die, die-set assembly, stamp press operation, metal forming, press maintenance, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Strong leadership and communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, and ensure safety compliance of beverage end/tab and food can making equipment and associated test equipment in the lab and high bay
  • Manufacture beverage ends, tabs, and food cans for coating evaluation
  • Provide technical guidance and training to plant engineers, sales representatives, technicians, CPQA personnel, and customers on beverage end and food can manufacturing processes
  • Serve a key role in technical support for sales, troubleshooting customer field issues, and performing root‑cause analysis using SEM and other tools
  • Collaborate closely with the Customer and Product Quality Assurance (CPQA) teams to solve product performance issues at customer locations
  • Maintain a safe work environment and lead continuous improvement initiatives

Job description

Kaiser Aluminum Warrick is seeking a Staff Engineer to serve as the equipment and process owner for beverage end/tab and food can manufacturing. The role focuses on maintaining and operating critical manufacturing and test equipment, providing technical support to plant engineers and customers, and ensuring product performance and safety.

Responsibilities
  • Operate, maintain, and ensure safety compliance of all beverage end/tab and food can making equipment and associated test equipment in the lab and high bay.
  • Manufacture beverage ends, tabs, and food cans as required for coating evaluation.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to plant engineers, sales representatives, technicians, CPQA personnel, and customers on beverage end and food can manufacturing processes.
  • Serve a key role in technical support for sales, troubleshooting customer field issues, and performing root‑cause analysis using SEM and other tools.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years experience in Tool and Die, die‑set assembly, stamp press operation, metal forming, press maintenance, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated leadership, accountability, and effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong problem‑solving ability, creativity, and initiative to work independently within program objectives.
  • Ability to influence, network, and collaborate across departments such as Advanced Engineering and Warrick.
Travel

May require 10–25% travel.
