Job summary

Applied Research Associates (ARA) is seeking a Staff Engineer/Scientist to join a multidisciplinary team supporting ballistics, physics-based modeling, and software tool development for U.S. Government and defense customers. This on-site role is based in Littleton, CO.

You will contribute to modeling, verification and validation, and collaborate with engineers and scientists to advance mission critical technologies, with opportunities to contribute to R&D thrusts and proposals.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
• Strong written and verbal communication; convey complex concepts clearly.

Responsibilities

• Support modeling and simulation through data analysis, model development, verification and validation, and documentation.
• Exercise physics-based models and compare results to experimental data.
• Study materials to understand properties and failure mechanisms.
• Collaborate with engineers and scientists on complex dynamic interactions.
• Communicate technical insights via reports, briefings, and customer interactions.
• Contribute to new research directions, proposals, and R&D thrusts.
