Job summary

Albert Bow Limited is seeking a Staff Engineer to shape the technical direction of the platform while remaining hands-on. You will collaborate with engineering, product, and client-facing teams to design scalable backend services and AI-enabled solutions.

You will tackle system design, implementation, and engineering standards, review code, and mentor peers, taking ownership of complex initiatives from design through delivery.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in professional software engineering.
• Extensive, hands-on experience with Python.
• Strong experience designing and building production REST APIs.
• Proven experience with distributed systems and large-scale backend architectures.
• Strong understanding of system design and software architecture.
• Experience working with MongoDB and Redis or comparable technologies.
• Experience building or integrating AI/ML-enabled applications in a production environment.
• Strong understanding of the full software development lifecycle.
• Ability to make pragmatic architectural decisions and clearly communicate technical trade-offs.
• Comfortable operating as a senior individual contributor while influencing engineering direction across teams.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable backend services and distributed systems using Python.
• Develop and maintain production-grade REST APIs and integrations.
• Design systems capable of processing large volumes of data reliably and efficiently.
• Work with technologies such as MongoDB and Redis to build performant and resilient applications.
• Contribute to the design of AI-enabled products and services.
• Lead technical discussions and contribute to architectural and system design decisions.
• Evaluate technical trade-offs and establish appropriate engineering patterns and standards.
• Review code and provide technical guidance to other engineers.
• Work closely with Product and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Identify performance bottlenecks, reliability issues and areas for technical improvement.
• Take ownership of complex engineering initiatives from design through implementation and delivery.
• Help establish best practices around software development, testing, documentation and deployment.
• Support the wider engineering team through technical mentorship and knowledge sharing.
