Job summary

SonderMind is hiring a Staff Engineer to own end-to-end features across backend services, AI pipelines, and front-end collaboration. You’ll shape microservices architecture while partnering with product, design, and QA to deliver innovative solutions.

We value 8+ years of web services experience and deep skills in Ruby/Rails, TS/Node, and Python. Strong APIs and PostgreSQL know-how, plus comfort with evolving AI tech, are key assets for success at SonderMind.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building web services or full-stack applications.
• Strong hands-on experience in Ruby/Rails, TypeScript/Node, Python or similar backends.
• Deep understanding of APIs, PostgreSQL, and some performance tuning.
• Proven ability to balance short-term delivery with long-term technical investments.
• Experience with AI/ML is desirable but not required.
• Experience with LLMs or AI-driven toolchain is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable Ruby/Rails, TypeScript/Node, and Python services and APIs.
• Optimize MongoDB and PostgreSQL queries and service performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional squads to define requirements and deliver features.
• Work with AI Agents, MCP servers and related AI-enabled tools and frameworks.
• Identify and drive process, architecture, and toolchain improvements.
• Mentor junior engineers (code reviews, pair-programming).
• Serve as a technical lead for complex projects with quality delivery.
