Job summary

Orum is seeking a Staff Full-Stack Engineer to lead end-to-end delivery for a real-time, high-scale product surface. You will architect, build, and evolve backend services, APIs and authentication systems powering Orum’s live calling platform, while mentoring engineers and raising the bar for simplicity, performance, and reliability.

You’ll collaborate with Product and Design as equal partners, shaping the roadmap through technical judgment and hands-on execution.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Staff-level scope including cross-team leadership, strategy and delivery.
• Expertise with TypeScript/Node.js and API development (REST, WebSocket, gRPC).
• Strong SQL fundamentals and PostgreSQL.
• Experience implementing authentication/authorization in distributed systems (OAuth2, JWT, RBAC).
• Ability to translate requirements into scalable, user-facing experiences.

Responsibilities

• Own complex product areas end-to-end—from discovery to deployment and iteration; work across Node/TypeScript backends, APIs and Auth systems, with React frontends.
• Lead architecture and system design for backend and API systems supporting real-time, high-volume workflows.
• Write design docs, set standards for code quality, testing, performance and observability; ensure scalable designs.
