Job summary

Alaffia is seeking a Staff Engineer in New York, NY to solve complex cross-team technical challenges and shape architectural direction. You will translate strategic goals into roadmaps, lead execution, and champion AI-augmented development practices.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with product and business leaders, and own testing strategy, system health, and critical infrastructure decisions. This is a hands-on engineering leadership role in a fast-growing healthtech startup.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with a track record leading complex projects at scale.
• Expert-level TypeScript, Python, GraphQL, and PostgreSQL.
• Strong system design and cloud infrastructure experience (AWS preferred), including CI/CD and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Demonstrated success adopting AI coding assistants to improve team productivity.

Responsibilities

• Architect and own delivery of complex, high-impact systems spanning multiple teams.
• Set technical direction and coding/design standards across the org.
• Drive AI coding tool adoption and establish best practices.
