Job summary

Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced Staff Embedded Software Engineer to join our Irvine team, reporting to the Embedded Software & FPGA Manager. You will develop high‑reliability software for satellite systems and payloads, leading a team of engineers and coordinating with cross‑functional groups.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of C/C++ embedded software experience.
• Experience with RTOS or bare-metal designs.
• Proficient with embedded debugging tools.
• Strong microcontroller and peripheral knowledge.
• Experience with serial protocols CAN, RS-232/422/485, I2C, SPI.
• Excellent communication and self-motivation.
• U.S. Person or permanent resident status required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor junior engineers in software development.
• Develop and maintain embedded software for satellite modules.
• Define and refine software requirements with teams.
• Architect and maintain reliable embedded software.
• Lead multiple satellite programs technically.
• Create unit tests using Test Driven Development.
• Develop and automate system-level tests.
• Integrate and test software in simulation and hardware-in-the-loop.
• Represent Terran Orbital in customer interactions.
• Travel up to 10% for design reviews.
