Job summary

Turion Space is seeking a Staff Ground Software Engineer to lead the design and implementation of the next generation Mission Control ground systems in Irvine, California. You will shape architecture, build core services, and mentor engineers as we scale our capabilities to support satellite operations and real‑time decision making.

You will collaborate with operators, flight software engineers, and cross‑functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable ground systems, with a focus on telemetry

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience with leadership
• Expertise in backend development and design of complex systems
• Experience with cloud-native architectures and distributed systems
• Experience operating live commercial SaaS products
• On-call experience for mission-critical operations
• Eligibility for TS/SCI clearance or security clearance readiness

Responsibilities

• Lead the software engineering process from concept to orbit-ready systems and set technical direction
• Mentor and guide teams of engineers building complex software
• Collaborate with satellite operators and mission planners to understand needs
• Architect mission-critical systems including next-gen Mission Control and AI/ML data pipelines
• Drive architectural decisions for highly reliable systems that cannot be redeployed like satellites
• Deliver intuitive space operations software and scalable ground systems
