Job summary

Wayve is seeking a Staff Embedded Security Engineer in Sunnyvale, CA, to design and implement security for onboard software across vehicle fleets. You will work with embedded teams on real-time firmware, embedded Linux, and security controls, shaping architecture and tooling for robust safety-critical systems.

The role requires strong experience in kernel/bootloader, cryptography, and hardware security techniques, plus excellent communication with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Proven record of designing and delivering software security systems for internet-connected embedded devices.
• Experience with hardware-based security techniques (Hardware Security modules, TrustZone, Secure Boot) in robust systems.
• Sound knowledge of Cryptography fundamentals and PKI.
• Ability to create clear technical specifications from system architecture to test plans.
• System-level software development experience (kernel/bootloader).
• Significant experience with Python, C++, C, or Go.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with developers and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop real-time embedded firmware and embedded Linux software to implement security controls for the system.
• Contribute to requirements, architecture, and interface design documents.
• Partner with Wayve Security team to address security issues in the vehicle fleet.
• Collaborate with internal developers to design secure software architectures.
• Build, deploy, and maintain security tools, libraries, and instrumentation in codebases.
• Perform code and design reviews to identify and remediate security flaws.
