Job summary

Enphase Energy, Inc. in Austin, TX, is seeking an experienced embedded software/firmware engineer to join the core Engineering R&D team launching storage products.

You'll develop integration software for batteries and inverters and work closely with hardware engineers to map firmware architecture. The role requires 8+ years in embedded software or 6+ with MS, strong C and Python skills, RTOS (Zephyr preferred), and experience with ARM Cortex-M4/7.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
• MS/ME with 6+ years of relevant embedded software experience.
• Proficiency in Python to automate workflows.
• Expertise in C for real-time applications.
• Experience with RTOS such as Zephyr.

About the role:

This position is part of the core Engineering R&D group, which focuses on launching Commercial/Industrial storage products. Our team is responsible for designing, prototyping, and launching Storage Systems at scale — cutting edge solutions that integrate Enphase’s core technologies like IQ series microinverters, home energy ecosystem of EV chargers, combiners, and more that are best in the market to deliver complete solutions for our consumers. We’re looking for a motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can collaborate closely with the team to develop and deliver innovative solutions.

What you will do:

• Developing requirements, code for system integration, batteries and inverters
• Develop board level and system/product level embedded software for solar and battery-based products.
• Work with hardware and system engineers to conceptualize and document thefirmwaredesign architecture for implementation.
• Leverage AI usage to perform EVT (engineering validation testing) and to verify sanity
• Work with cross function teams like SDVT (system design validation testing) engineers to test and troubleshoot prototype designs.
• Mentor junior engineers and be able to work on commercial product domains seamlessly

Who you are and what you bring:

• B. E/ B. Tech in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or Computer Science, 8+ years’ experience in a similar (non-academic) role as an embedded software or firmware engineer
• M.S/ M. Tech with 6+ years' of experience
• Proficiency scripting language Python to automate software development workflows.
• Expertise in C for real-time applications.
• Solid experience with bare metal and real-time operating systems (RTOS). Experience in zephyr is ideal.
• Being curious and ability to troubleshoot firmware related issues within complex systems.Relentless pursuit of problem-solving skills.
• Ability to test code and hardware both with and without external test equipment such as oscilloscopes, power meters, etc.
• Familiarity with software development processes, Atlassian cloud suite(Confluence, JIRA), Git configuration management.
• Familiarity with development tools such as GCC, GDB, Eclipse, GNU Make, etc.
• Familiarity with developing drivers for sensors and closed-loop control algorithms.
• Ability to carry a design task from concept to implementation and verify.
• Ability to document engineering requirements(like JAMA, Polarion, DOORs), documentsolutions, and test new firmware designs.
• Experience with launching products on production scale to see through customer or field issues for learnings.
• Familiarity with ARM Cortex-M4/7, STM32 or similar microcontroller architectures is a plus.
• Zephyr RTOS experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with bootloader design and implementation is a plus.
• Familiarity with AC grid simulators andDC to AC inverters is a plus.
• Familiarity with developing controls for cooling systems like fans, chillers, pumps etc is a plus.
• Familiarity and experience with Battery Management System (BMS) is a plus.
• Knowledge in worldwide(UL and IEC standards) electrical advanced grid functions and faults conditions is a plus.

Work Location

This role requires being on-site at our Austin, Texas office 5 days per week.

The base pay range for this position is $100,000 to $151,000 per year. This salary range may be modified in the future. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, education or training, work location, and market conditions. This position is also eligible for bonus, RSU stocks in equity, premium health insurance and 401k matching benefits.
