Job summary

Amprius Technologies is hiring a hands-on Staff Electrode Process Engineer to own the electrode manufacturing process on our anode and cathode pilot line in Fremont, CA. You will own the four core electrode processes — slurry mixing, coating, calendering, and slitting — ensuring in-spec, defect-free electrodes for the cell-assembly line on schedule and at target yield.

Qualifications

• BS or higher in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of process engineering experience in lithium-ion battery electrode manufacturing (mixing through slitting).
• Hands-on experience with slurry mixing, slot-die or comma-bar coating, calendering, and slitting equipment.
• Demonstrated first-pass yield or defect-rate improvements you owned end to end.
• Proficiency with SPC, DOE and statistical analysis (JMP, Minitab, or equivalent), PFMEA, and Gage R&R.
• Reading and interpreting electrode design specs and equipment drawings.
• Strong communication and teamwork; ability to train technicians and present data-driven recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Own process parameters for slurry mixing, coating, calendering, and slitting on the anode and cathode lines and release them as specs, recipes, and SOPs.
• Own first-pass yield and scrap metrics; lead root-cause investigations and drive corrective actions.
• Implement and manage SPC, in-line metrology, and data collection to visualize yield by step, product, and shift.
• Design and run structured experiments (DOE) to optimize parameters against yield and throughput.
• Ensure line delivers assembly-ready material and handoff electrodes to the cell-assembly line on schedule.
• Lead new equipment and line implementations; support FAT/SAT and qualification builds.
• Transfer new recipes from R&D to production and stabilize initial quality; document processes.
• Lead PFMEAs and control plans; qualify changes with capability studies before release.
• Write SOPs; train technicians; support daily production troubleshooting including off-shift escalations.
