Job summary

Shield AI is seeking a Staff Electrical Systems Advance Manufacturing Engineer to lead development, integration and production support of advanced electrical systems for aerospace/defense platforms. You will drive manufacturability, production readiness, process development, root‑cause resolution, and continuous improvement across electrical assemblies and subsystems.

You will partner with design engineering to improve manufacturability and testability, develop work instructions and quality

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of manufacturing engineering for complex electrical systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Experience in prototype manufacturing in startup or rapid-growth settings.
  • Wiring harness, EWIS, PCB/PCBA, electrical integration and aerospace/defense experience.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with shifting priorities.
  • Knowledge of process development and production scaling; DFM/DFA principles.
  • Experience with root-cause analysis and corrective actions; IPC familiarity.
  • Experience with flight hardware or mission-critical systems; aerospace/defense exposure.
  • Familiarity with CAD software and quality standards (AS9100/ISO 9001).

Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering activities for electrical and avionics from prototype to full-rate production.
  • Develop and optimize processes, tooling, work instructions, and production flows.
  • Partner with design to improve manufacturability, reliability, and testability.
  • Drive root-cause investigations and corrective actions for electrical issues.
  • Create work instructions, quality standards, and inspection methods.
  • Support supplier qualification, process validation, and readiness reviews.
  • Lead DFM/DFA reviews and transfer new products to manufacturing.
  • Define standards, process controls, and acceptance criteria.
  • Support failure analysis and reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, supply chain, and test eng teams.
  • Mentor junior manufacturing engineers.
