Job summary

E-Space in Saratoga, CA is seeking a Staff Test Electrical Engineer to lead the design and deployment of automated test systems for satellite avionics. You will collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines to develop test methods, PCBA harnesses, and flight-like testing of satellite hardware.

The role requires a strong background in electronics hardware development, scripted test control, and Dassault/Altium-based design tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or similar.
  • 10+ years of experience in electronics hardware development and testing.
  • Proficiency with electrical test equipment (power supplies, loads, oscilloscopes, etc.).
  • Strong documentation skills for test procedures and results.
  • Experience with automated test implementation and test strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Own the custom functional test equipment design from clean sheet to flight hardware production test.
  • Develop functional test PCBA and other hardware requirements and architectures.
  • Schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium Designer.
  • Develop test strategies and plans with HW designers.
  • PCBA and HW manufacturing, design validation, and integration of automated test systems.
  • Circuit simulation and analysis in SPICE, Excel, etc.
  • Support software engineers in automated test control development.
  • Execute flight hardware qualification and production acceptance testing.
  • Support DUT anomaly resolution.
  • Contribute to engineering and production best practices.

The Staff Test Electrical Engineer of Test Systems will participate in all phases of testing avionics flight and ground hardware for E‑Space satellites. You will work collaboratively with engineers of various disciplines to develop the automated test framework for satellite avionics and systems including test methods, custom PCBAs, harnesses, and other hardware, and ultimately support the rigorous flight‑like testing of satellite hardware.

Responsibilities
  • Own the custom functional test equipment design from clean sheet to flight hardware production test.
  • Develop functional test PCBA and other hardware requirements, architectures, and con‑ops in collaboration with other engineering disciplines.
  • Schematic capture and PCB layout of power, digital, and analog instrumentation circuit PCBAs using Altium Designer.
  • Develop test strategies and plans in collaboration with flight HW designers and other engineering disciplines.
  • PCBA and other HW manufacturing, design validation, and integration of automated test systems.
  • Circuit simulation and analysis in SPICE, Excel, etc.
  • Support SW engineers in the development of automated test control software.
  • Execute flight hardware qualification and production acceptance testing including ambient functional and environmental tests.
  • Support DUT anomaly resolution.
  • Contribute to the development of engineering and production best practices to support most efficient manufacturing.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar.
  • 10+ years of experience in electronics hardware development and testing including schematic capture, PCB layout, hardware characterization testing, and automated test implementation.
  • Proficiency with electrical test equipment including power supplies, loads, oscilloscopes, thermal chambers, etc.
  • Strong documentation skills for test procedures, results, analysis, etc.
  • Demonstrated success working in a dynamic environment.
  • Programming skills in Python, Tcl, and C/C++.
  • Proficiency with Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout.
  • Experience with mechanical design in Solidworks.
  • Experience with radiation effects testing.
Other Requirements
  • The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience in custom electronics design and testing.
  • This position will report to the Test Engineering Lead and will work closely with the Test, Electrical, and Systems Engineering teams. The successful candidate will be based in our Saratoga, CA office.
