Job summary

Brooksource is seeking aStaff Electrical Engineer to support the design and execution of high-voltage substation projects ranging from 13kV to 765kV for utility and energy clients. This full-time role involves collaborating with experienced engineers and project teams through concept to construction, developing design packages, and ensuring QA/QC across the project lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will have a ABET-accredited engineering degree, 3+ years of substation experience, and knowledge of

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree (EE or related) required.
• 3+ years of substation engineering experience with HV utility or power delivery projects.
• EIT preferred with ability to pursue PE licensure.
• Knowledge of IEEE/NESC standards and industry practices.

Responsibilities

• Support HV substation projects from conceptual design through construction.
• Develop design packages including P&C, grounding, lighting, and security systems.
• Perform grounding analysis, insulation coordination, battery sizing, voltage drop, cable sizing, conduit fill.
• Prepare design drawings, equipment specs, BOMs, cost estimates, construction docs.
• Apply IEEE, NESC, and utility standards throughout design.
• Coordinate field visits and site inspections during project execution.
• Mentor Assistant Engineers and coordinate deliverables with Senior Engineers.
• Support technical reports, client presentations, proposals, and QA/QC efforts.
