Base pay range

$76,000.00/yr - $105,000.00/yr

About the opportunity:

Do you thrive in delivering top environmental consulting services? Headway Environmental is expanding their Ecological Restoration Engineering team and seeks a dynamic individual eager to make a difference.

We are looking for a skilled Engineer with experience in stream restoration design, surface water hydrologic, and open-channel hydraulic analysis and modeling. Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM, and GIS principles is required.

You will receive mentorship from nationally-recognized engineers. The work location is remote, preferably near Little Rock, AR, Annapolis, MD, Houston, TX, or Ft. Collins, CO.

Responsibilities include:
  • Design of ecosystem restoration projects such as stream restoration, wetland restoration, green infrastructure, stormwater management, and flood control channels.
  • Develop construction plans under the guidance of project leaders.
  • Mentor CADD technicians in AutoDesk Civil 3D.
  • Conduct water resource assessments including hydrology and hydraulics modeling.
  • Utilize software like AutoCAD Civil 3D, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
  • Manage project schedules and budgets, reporting to the lead engineer.
Qualifications for success:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related; Master’s preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in stream restoration design and CADD development.
  • Coursework in hydrology and hydraulics.
  • Training in geomorphology, stream restoration, and sediment transport preferred.
  • Experience with relevant civil engineering software is required.
  • Willingness to learn GIS.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks under pressure.
