Job summary

Ancestry in the United States is seeking a product-focused software engineer to own a developer experience workflow, from discovery through rollout and adoption. You’ll interview engineers, define problems, design solutions, prototype in code or Figma, and ship small, valuable releases.

You’ll work across TypeScript/React and backend services, with a bias for AI-enabled tooling and a consumer-grade internal experience.

Qualifications

5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
Experience shipping developer-facing software such as CLIs, internal platforms, or CI/CD tooling.
Strong in TypeScript and React, or a backend language such as Go, Python, Java, or Rust.

Responsibilities

Own a specific developer workflow, tool, or user problem through discovery, definition, design, build, rollout, and adoption.
Interview engineers, product managers, and designers; read support tickets and usage data to identify the most valuable problem.
Prototype in Figma or in code; ship the smallest useful version that solves the problem.
Collaborate with design partners and pilot with teams; write launch notes and documentation.
Maintain consumer-grade quality: latency, accessibility, clear error messages, and reliable tooling.
