Melrose HealthCare is seeking an experienced LPN to join our management team as a Staff Development Coordinator. The role supports the Director of Nursing Services in planning, organizing, developing and directing day-to-day functions of the Nursing Services Department in accordance with current standards for long-term care facilities.

The position involves developing training, providing orientation and mandatory in-services, and ensuring compliance with federal, state and local regulations.

Qualifications

  • Must be a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in good standing.
  • Solid knowledge of nursing theory and practices.
  • Able to read and write legibly.
  • Experience in hospital or long-term care settings.
  • Familiar with laws and guidelines governing long-term care.
  • Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and update nursing policies, procedures, reference materials, manuals, objectives and philosophies.
  • Provide in-services and training to meet department and regulatory requirements.
  • Determine and assess facility education needs.
  • Plan, develop, and implement training.
  • Coordinate nursing services with other resident services.
  • Implement plans of action to correct deficiencies.
  • Participate in surveys and inspections by government agencies.
  • Report to the Director of Nursing Services and Administrator on operations.
  • Schedule daily rounds and monitor residents' treatment and medications.
  • Review nurses' notes for proper documentation of treatment, medications and conditions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Melrose HealthCare is seeking an experienced LPN to join our management team as Staff Development Coordinator.

POSITION SUMMARY:

In this role, theSDCwill assist the Director of Nursing Services in planning, organizing, developing and directing the day to day functions of the Nursing Services Department in accordance with current federal, state and local standards governing long term care facilities, and as may be directed by the Administrator.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Participate in developing, maintaining and periodically updating written nursing policies, procedures, reference materials, manual, objectives and philosophies.
  • Provide general orientation, mandatory in-services, continuing education, and other training to meet all department and facility needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Determine and assess facility education needs.
  • Plan, develop, and implement training.
  • Assist in developing and implementing methods for coordinating nursing services with other resident services.
  • Implement plans of action to correct deficiencies.
  • Participate in surveys and inspections by government agencies
  • Make reports and recommendations to the Director of Nursing Services and Administrator concerning operations of the department.
  • Schedule daily rounds and monitor resident’s treatment and medications to ensure residents are receiving proper care.
  • Review nurse’s notes to ensure proper documentation is maintained relating to resident’s treatment, medications and conditions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in good standing and currently licensed by the state.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of nursing theory, techniques and practices.
  • Must have good verbal and communication skills with the ability to demonstrate organizational and educational skills.
  • Must show ability to read and write in a legible and understandable manner.
  • Previous experience in a hospital, long term care facility or other healthcare related facility.
  • Must be knowledgeable of general, rehabilitative and restorative nursing and medical practices and procedures and laws, regulations and guidelines governing long term care.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
