Job summary

Campfire in San Francisco seeks a Staff Design Engineer to shape the core ERP experience. You’ll own thorny design problems across modules, collaborate with engineering and product leadership, and raise the bar for craft across the team.

You will mentor designers, design for dense data workflows, and evolve the design system as the product grows. This is a senior IC role focused on impactful, cross‑functional outcomes.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of product design experience with end-to-end ownership.
• Experience designing for data-dense, workflow-heavy software (fintech/ERP/B2B SaaS).
• Strong systems thinking; can see the big picture and pixel details.
• A portfolio showing 0-to-1 work and iterative design.
• Excellent communication; aligns with engineers, PMs, and executives.
• Comfort in ambiguity and evolving scope.
• Past startup experience with bias toward shipping.
• Able to prototype with HTML/CSS and JavaScript.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end design for complex, ambiguous problems spanning multiple product areas.
• Partner with product and engineering leads to shape roadmap and strategy.
• Design for dense, data-heavy workflows; maintain clarity and speed.
• Strengthen and evolve Campfire's design system and interaction patterns.
• Mentor other designers and elevate craft across the team.
• Talk directly to customers to ground decisions in real workflows.
• Drive design reviews and enable faster, better-informed decisions.
