Staff Design Engineer

ZO COMPUTER COMPANY is seeking a Staff Design Engineer.

Company

Our cofounders Rob and Ben met on the early Venmo team and have been friends for 13 years. Rob was the founding engineer both at Fin (a virtual assistant ahead of its time) and Substack. Ben had a long career at Stripe from 2015-2023. Our HQ is in Brooklyn (near SEY Coffee) and we have an office in San Francisco. This role is NYC only, and we work in-person.

Role

Ben (cofounder) says: I don't consider myself a designer (or design engineer), but I do consider myself an artist. I make music and find creative fulfillment in building beautiful software. I've been the de facto designer on the team thus far (product & marketing site). You must be an excellent engineer, capable of independently implementing your designs while simultaneously upleveling the codebase. You must be an exceptional communicator across mediums, with writing as the foundation. You must be a patient, egoless seeker of truth and beauty through the timeless way of building.
