Job summary

Salud Para La Gente, Inc. seeks a Staff Dentist to provide essential dental services under the Dental Director, including diagnosis, treatment planning, restorative care, periodontics, surgery, endodontics, prosthetics, and pediatric dentistry.

Qualifications

• Holds a degree from an accredited dental school.
• Current license to practice dentistry; issued by the state board.
• Up to date on current dental principles, practices and materials.
• BSL certification (Basic Life Support) within six months of employment.
• Bilingual Spanish/English required.
• Availability for Saturday shifts as requested.
• Supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to Salud Para La Gente's communication guidelines with patients and staff.
• Communicate effectively with patients using empathetic listening and appropriate tone.
• Create reports as required by contracts and internal policies.
• Manage daily activities of dental staff.
• Examine, diagnose, and plan treatment for patients.
• Perform prophylaxis, scaling, root planing, and hygiene instructions.
• Perform endodontic therapy and restorative dentistry.
• Conduct oral surgery with consideration of patient health.
• Provide local anesthesia and medications as needed.
• Submit staff evaluations timely.

Description

The Staff Dentist, under the supervision of the Dental Director, is responsible for providing basic dental services for clinic patients, including but not limited to: diagnosis, treatment planning, routine restorative care, periodontal treatment, oral surgery, endodontic treatment, prosthetics and pediatric dentistry. Emphasizes the importance of education and prevention to patients and staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Consistently adhere to and/or exceed SPLG’s communication guidelines and expectations with internal and external customers including co-workers, patients, and external partners.
• Communicate effectively by using welcoming words, proper tone of voice, appropriate body language, eye contact and smiling in all interactions. Listen skillfully and display a willingness and ability to acknowledge patient and co-workers’ needs, expectations and values through the use of reflective listening and empathy conveyance. Respond to co-worker and patient needs in ways that are helpful and beyond expectation.
• Create reports as required by Salud Para La Gente, county, state and federal contracts.
• Manage the daily activities of all dental staff.
• Examine, diagnosis, and plan treatment for patients.
• Perform prophylaxis, scaling, subgingival curettage, root planning, and oral hygiene instruction.
• Perform endodontic therapy.
• Perform restorative dentistry.
• Perform oral surgery with special consideration given to patient's general health.
• Provide immediate treatment of dental emergencies.
• Provide local anesthesia.
• Prescribe medications as necessary.
• Submit evaluations of staff in a timely fashion.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Holds a degree from an accredited dental school.
• Has a current, valid license to practice dentistry; issued by the California State Board of Dental Examiners.
• Be up to date on current dental principles, practices and materials.
• Possess certification in Basic-Cardio Life Support within six months of employment.
• Bilingual Spanish/English required.
• Must be available to work Saturday shifts as requested.
• Supervisory experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Standing, walking, sitting, typing, reaching, bending, moving and/or lifting up to 50 pounds.

SALARY & BENEFITS

Salary Range: $84.14 to $104.84 per hour.

Employment Type: Full Time

Benefits: available to all regular Salud employees working 24+ hours per week. Part-time employees may receive some benefits on a pro-rated basis.
